It Had To Be Done

Remember those cookies I made? Well, I was lamenting to my mom (my baking guru and mentor) about how disappointed I was with them. They were sub-par: crispy (I like chewy), wimpy (not meaty enough), and with a disappointing taste. So after a few days of snacking on them and then being reminded how disappointing they were, I threw them out.

It had to be done. They were a waste of calories and ingredients!!! Gross. And if I am going to indulge in something, make it worth it! These were not worth it. Nope. I should have just bought the 2-lb Reeses Peanut Butter Cups that I saw. Jeepers. My mom gave me some tips so next time hopefully they'll be up to my standards.

Then one of my best pals Clary was facebooking about how she was eating Rolos. Dude. I LOVE Rolos. Seriously. They are in my Top 5 Favorite Candy. So yesterday I bopped in to Wally World on the hunt for some Rolos and Red Vines for the movies. It had to be done. I was in wee bit of a rush and couldn't find Rolos (sad day!) so I substituted: 100 Grand for Rolos.

Acceptable, especially since 100 Grand also makes my Top 5. Delish. I've been trying not to eat the entire bag of 100 Grand bars and let me tell ya, it's hard. So I stuck them in the freezer because this is one candy bar I know I do not like to eat frozen. Frozen caramel? Gross and ouch. Don't think that will stop me from eating one when I really, really want one, but it'll keep my sticky paws out of them when I get a wicked craving (and that's when I open my snazzy candy draw and grab some Red Vines since I didn't eat them during the movie! Yesssss!)

Oh and I saw "One for the Money" with Katherine Heigl. Eh. RottenTomatoes had it right on. Not that great of a film. I mean it was funny, but not that great. Except, it was a $6 matinee! SIX BUCKS! I can't remember the last time I only paid $6 for a matinee. That in and of itself almost made it worth it. BUT get this! "Iron Lady" is playing and I am definitely going to see that soon. I'm stoked. I'm also looking forward to the new Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams film "The Vow" and the movie "This Means War" with Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, and Tom Hardy.

And in other news: This is my friend Alyssa (Sister Gerber).
We know each other from Tucson. We lived 3 doors down from each other. Fun fact. My first Sunday at church here in South Carolina I was nervous and anxious because I didn't know anyone....I thought. I was (blissfully) wrong! I heard my name, looked over and saw Sister Gerber! She is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in this area and I didn't even know it. Truthfully I almost started crying because I was so happy to see a familiar face. I looked at her in shock for a good 1.37 seconds and then hugged her and we giggled and chatted in disbelief. LOVE. IT.

I actually got to go out with her and her companion yesterday and it was awesome. I'm so proud of her. She is going great things and rockin' it. So today, since she is being transferred, we decided to take pictures and a short video so that I could post it on facebook for all of our Tucson pals. It had to be done!

Last night was my first night dining out in Myrtle Beach. Let me tell you, this place is HOPPING and it's only January. Can I tell you how wicked excited I am to go out when summer is here and it's really hopping?!?! I'm wicked excited!!! I was loving the night life and can't wait for more outings. My first ever dining out experience was at Nacho Hippo---a mexican place/sports bar/live music/hang out. Yummmm!
Wicked fun. And next week the girls (aka the other dietitians I work with) and I may get sushi after work. OHmylantus I'm excited!!! (Shannon-the fact that you used "Oh my lantus" made my life!)

And ok, I ran 8.66 miles on Friday and I did it at an 8:04 pace, which is slower than my usual pace but I'm working up to. That was not an easy run but I did it. Yay! But um, ok, chaffing is a bugger and it REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hurts. I got home, showered, and whined on and off for the rest of the evening (and weekend). I can push myself through muscle soreness but chaffing is a beast and I not a fan. Not one bit.

Finally. I love my Toms. I pretty much wear them as often as possible and also as slippers when I get home from work. I may or may not have worn them around my apartment last night with my pj's (while watching Step Up....) and I am most definitely wearing them now. I can't wait to get another snazzy pair.
